Part of a series of photos taken at Werl 1942.04.26 before the I./SchG1 returned to the Eastern Front, having been equipped with Bf109E-7s after having taken heavy losses in the USSR. At the occasion the airfield was visited by several wifes and girlfriends.

Hi Honza, can we stick to just the "Bf109 type abbreviation instead of "Me Bf109" please. Thank you! :)

I've seen this photo before, and I believe it was captioned with information. I will remember the women are the General's wife and two daughters but I haven't found it yet......However, there are other photos from this event in Luftwaffe im Focus #18 and #19. In the latter, Photo L3 on page 4 is showing the same women and the caption reads: "Additions and corrections to Edition 18. Photos 16 + 17. Concerning the photos of I./SchG.1 in Werl on 26 April 1942, we have received several letters informing us that the photos were taken before the unit left to return to the Eastern Front. The accompanying photos provide a second helping. They were also taken by "Lilo", the girlfriend of one of the pilots. Many wives and girlfriends gathered at Werl airfield to bid farewell to their men......."
In LiF #18 there are two photos of Bf109E-7s captioned as "After heavy losses during the fighting before Moscow during the winter of 1941-42, in April 1942 I./SchG.1 returned to the Reich and underwent a period of rest and refitting at Werl. Having lost many aircraft in Russia, the Gruppe was issued new Bf109E-7s. ........."

I have a set of photos which seem to belong to this series of photos in LiF and one of them is the same as in post#4:

If the above is correct, the thread should be moved to the appropriate unit section.
